Six people are facing drug charges after police recovered about $61,000 and a range of illicit drugs, in a Southland drug operation.
Operation Mud Dog focused on disrupting the supply and distribution of illicit drugs in Southland.
Police this week executed four drug-related search warrants ataddresses across Southland, resulting in six people facing a range of drug supply-related charges.
As well as the cash, police found drugs including LSD, ketamine, MDMA and cannabis.
Southland Police Sergeant Holly Mauheni said the operation sends a clear message that police will target those who profit from the harm caused by illicit drugs.
“These results speak for themselves. This investigation started with sharp frontline policing and, following a routine arrest, we dug a little deeper,” Mauheni said.

Mauheni said multiple police teams collaborated in the operation.
“We worked closely with our Organised Crime Group, who drove the investigation forward and led the execution of the operation, with support from the same frontline team and CIB,” she said.
