This year's road toll so far is nearly on a par with the same period in 2017.
Motorists on Auckland's Southern Motorway face significant delays after a second crash southbound - next to where traffic was being diverted to avoid an earlier accident.
The latest crash hapened near Penrose - where traffic had backed up to after an earlier crash involving a vehicle that rolled,blocking three of four lanes.

SH1 - SOUTHERN MWY - SOUTHBOUND - CRASH - 10:20AM
A secondary #crash has occurred on the Southern Mwy southbound near Penrose which is blocking the right lane. Traffic remains very heavy in the area, avoid the area if possible and expect #delays. ^JF

The vehicle that rolled on the motorway had already caused extensive delays for southbound traffic this morning.
The NZ Transport Agency said the crash was just before the Princes St off-ramp in Otahuhu just after 9am.

This #crash has now been pushed clear and all lanes are now open. Congestion is very heavy travelling south from Penrose to Princes St. Please delay your journey if possible or use alternate routes. ^JF
