Construction of a major southern motorway for Christchurch is a step closer.
The proposal will provide a motorway link between the city at Collins St, and State Highway 1, west of Hornby.
The preliminary design phase has concluded, with consent applications due to be lodged with the
council and Environment Canterbury in February.
Depending on consents, it is hoped construction will get under way in 2010.
