South Island road reopens after serious crash

Save A serious two-car crash closed State Highway 73 in Arthurs Pass for more than four hours today.
Emergency services were called to the crash between Arthurs Road and Waimakariri River Valley Road about 10.45am, a police spokesman said.
One person was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital.
The road opened
to all traffic about 3pm, but traffic was moving slowly, police said.
Police were still examining the scene.
