A breakdown just after 7am partially blocked the left city-bound on-ramp from the Ellerslie Panmure Highway on to the Southern Motorway.
It was cleared about 40 minutes later, the New Zealand Transport Agency said.
But motorists were still encouraged to "take extra care and allow extra time this morning".
At around 7.40am, a crash occurred just before the Neilson St off-ramp on the Southwestern Motorway.
The collision blocked the middle lane as a result and people were again warned to expect delays.
Then at 8.30am, those heading towards the city on the Northwestern Motorway were faced with congestion and delays after a car broke down in the middle lane just after Te Atatu Rd.
The NZTA alerted motorists via its official social networking sites, telling them: "Pass either side with extra care and expect some delays."
