Parts of the central North Island woke to a winter wonderland yesterday — and the turbulent weather is set to continue into the week ahead.
The snow caused problems on the roads but cheered up skiers and snowboarders with 20cm of fresh powder at Whakapapa and Turoa skifields. Among the
delighted were Mackenzie Rielly-Milne and Max Colville who played outside the Chateau Tongariro.
WeatherWatch's Philip Duncan said tomorrow would start out warm and windy for much of the country but with a cold sting in the South Island. Tuesday and Wednesday were likely to get colder, a front heading north and bringing with it rain and wind.
The remainder of the week would be chilly, the cold wind sticking around until at least Friday.
