Billowing smoke from a bonfire affected visibility on Auckland's Southwestern motorway this morning.
Motorists were being warned to take extra care near Massey Rd as thick smoke drifted across the busy motorway, obscuring vision.
Fire Service northern communcations shift manager Jaron Phillips said the smoke was traced to a backyard
bonfire, which was quickly extinguished.
The grey smoke has now cleared, he said.
