Slip in Karangahake Gorge closes SH2 between Waihi and Paeroa

A slip in the Karangahake Gorge between Waihi and Paeroa has closed State Highway 2.

State Highway 2 has been closed in both directions because of a slip this evening.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said the slip occurred in the Karangahake Gorge between Paeroa and Waihi.

It advised motorists to delay their journey or take an alternative route.

The agency said it would post updates about the road closure on its website and social media pages.
