Sky TV left red-faced after accidentally live-streaming the Oscars without rights

Sky TV in New Zealand has been left a little red-faced after accidentally streaming the Oscars online without the rights.

A perplexed customer hit Twitter to ask the company why they had taken down the live stream on Sky Go.

Hi Stewart, we do apologise but we don't have the Live streaming rights to The Oscars today (only catch up). ^Sam

"Hi Stewart, we do apologise but we don't have the Live streaming rights to The Oscars today (only catch up)," an admin responded.

The customer, Stewart Sowman-Lund, was still confused.

"Um but you started streaming it?? So you didn't know in advance?"

The Twitter admin said the mistake was made by the productions team.

"Hi, I'm afraid this was an error on behalf of our productions team and should not have played online. Our apologise (sic)."
