The official title for the role is case officer or intelligence specialist.
"The case officer role is not for the faint-hearted. It is a challenging role in a high pressure/high stakes environment. Your quick wit, EQ and aptitude to be agile and think on your feet will enable you to succeed and handle whatever the job throws at you," the ad reads.
"Perhaps you have been told that you can talk your way out of anything? Someone tenacious who can remove roadblocks to get what you need - this could be the meaningful career unlike any other."
Director-General of Security Rebecca Kitteridge said the SIS was looking for
naturally curious, worldly people who would build rapport with others.
"We're looking for people with some life experience and interested in Kiwis looking to move back home to New Zealand. So if you or a family member or friend looking to come home after their OE, send them our way."
Kitteridge said the recruitment campaign was also focused on recruiting more people with Māori, Pasifika and Asian backgrounds.
"These recruitment campaigns are all part of the wider workforce plan for the New Zealand Intelligence Community to ensure we have the right people and capability to deliver the security and intelligence outcomes expected by the Government."
Only New Zealand citizens or permanent residents from any of the other Five Eyes intelligence-sharing group – Canada, the US, UK or Australia – can apply.
Applicants have to go through rigorous vetting and if successful, six months of intensive training.
A driver's licence and an ability to keep your mouth shut are also prerequisites.
