Changing the name of the Dramatic Arts School of Performing Arts to the Sir Anthony Hopkins School of Dramatic Arts is in part to acknowledge and recognise the contribution made to Southland by Roger Donaldson's film The World's Fastest Indian and actor Sir Anthony Hopkins.
The diploma of performing artson offer at the school, which is part of the Southern Institute of Technology, provides traditional, classical training.
"The actor Sir Anthony Hopkins is a great role model for our drama students,'' says marketing manager Megan Brown. "Our aim is to prepare graduates for professional acting careers in stage, film, television and the creative arts or for further specialised training.''
