Kate Bush was recommended to me by my mum when I finished reading the book Wuthering Heights.
I listened to her song named Wuthering Heights and fell in love with her music.
Bush, who has a completely different style to modern-day music, was popular in the 1970s and 1980s.
Her music is what people used to describe as "alternative".
Wuthering Heights is one of my favourite songs - it's a beautiful but sad song.
It's about Cathy and Heathcliff, who knew deep in their hearts they truly loved each other.
Cathy keeps a watch over Heathcliff after she dies and they come together at last, realising their love.
The way the lyrics tie in with the book is amazing, especially the line:
"My one dream, my only master".
Another of Kate Bush's songs is Running up that hill.
This is a touching and emotional song.
The meaning I get out of the lyrics is that a loved one is in pain and suffering and she's willing to swap lives with them to give them a rest.
You don't possess the strength to finish your journey up the hill, but if you swap with me, I'll finish it for you. You can make it up to me with love.
They're willing to give themselves up to relieve their loved ones from their pain, physical or emotional.
I got this from the chorus, where it says:
"And if only I could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building,
If only I could, oh"
This song really touches me and means a lot.
Kate Bush writes and sings beautiful songs. She is a real inspiration.
I recommend everyone listen to her. You'll be surprised.
She is totally different and, to me, her songs are more meaningful than today's new songs. Kate Bush is an idol to me.
