The Perceval family of Glen Iris, Victoria, Australia, sold their home at auction for A$2,060,000. But before the final paperwork was done, they got a better offer: real estate agent Glen Coutinho said the new offer asked for the inclusion of the Percevals' cat Tiffany. The real estate agent said a child of one of the bidders had fallen in love with Tiffany during the inspections of the home. "Tiffany decided she would sit on the couch," Fran Perceval told the Herald Sun. "She loved all the attention - she does look a bit ornamental," she said. The bidder then upped the offer to A$2.2 million - as long as Tiffany was included in the deal. The Percevals decided the extra $140,000 was enough to part with Tiffany, who will stay in her home with the new owners.
Why NZ Post is getting licked
A reader writes: "I think I might have discovered why NZ Post's revenue is really declining - they don't sell single envelopes any more, only packs of 10. I rang and complained. A manager has just rung me ... apparently it's an 'economical decision' - they don't want to split packs of 10. So Joe Bloggs wanting to post a letter has to buy a pack of 10 - nine of which they don't need."
Hair's the reason it costs more ...
A reader writes: "Women's haircuts have always cost more in most of the places I've been to. I presume it's to do with the logic that women tend to want more complicated cuts and it therefore takes longer. Faulty logic perhaps in this metrosexual age, but then again car insurance companies gouge men so I don't feel sorry for you. Haven't had an accident in over 15 years of driving, still get charged more than my accident-prone wife."
