A man who thought he was being funny when he used Facebook to compare marrying his dog to same-sex marriage found himself in the dogbox at his work. Ryan Uhler posted the message after the US Supreme Court ruled that gay marriage was legal. The next day he was fired from his job as a digital marketing specialist. Uhler didn't think anyone at his workplace used Facebook, and claimed he liked to use social media to "stir the pot." The 32-year-old Florida man insisted he didn't mean anything derogatory by the post, and had no problem with the court's decision.

"Bought this bottle of milk at the shop across the road from Fonterra's Te Awamutu Factory," writes TorqueIT. "The shop didn't have any of the free water PM Key was waffling on about, so I had to pay $4.50 for this milk. Which got me wondering how it's delivered across the road at that price. Limousine? Butler with a silver tray brings them over one at a time? My guess, an armoured van with security guards at that price. Very precious stuff, wouldn't want to waste any, as we don't want any of New Zealand's trading partners' children to be undernourished."

Apple's Siri turns simple maths question into existential crisis

The internet discovered how Siri, the Apple iPhone and iPads' virtual assistant, responds to the question: "What is zero divided by zero?". For those that missed it, Siri's amusing reply was: "Imagine that you have zero cookies and you split them evenly among zero friends. How many cookies does each person get? See? It doesn't make sense. And Cookie Monster is sad that there are no cookies. And you are sad that you have no friends." Other amusing Siri responses noted include: Q: "Siri do you have a boyfriend?" Siri answers: "Why? So we can get cream together, and listen to music, and travel across galaxies, only to have it end in slammed doors, heartbreak and loneliness? Sure, where do I sign up?"

Thank you to person who wrapped cat with fleecy kindness

A reader writes: "Taz was a rescue cat from the SPCA. I bought him home as a surprise for my wife 12 years ago - unfortunately his nine lives ran out crossing the road, and some kind soul picked him up and wrapped him in a child's purple fleece jacket and laid him on our neighbour's lawn. When he didn't come in for breakfast I found him, wrapped in the jacket, and I would like to thank whoever did this kind thing and we would love to replace the jacket as a thank you."
