Seeing red over white (and the speeches)
Why is the wedding industry so oldfashioned, wonders this Auckland bride-to-be: "I doubt I will be reading any more bridal magazines. Not a single non-white dress to be seen and all sorts of lists of who should do what. Oh, and speeches: Best Man, Father of the Bride, Groom. Sorry, what? Ladies can talk too, you know. It does say: 'At this point many brides are choosing to say a few words.' A few?" Meanwhile, a friend chimed in with: "Wore dark blue velvet. Had a best woman instead of a best man. Bridesmaids/tarts wore their own black dresses and the husband was the one crying."

The girl's family went to a police station to file charges, but in some remote villages like Ganeshpura, higher-caste aggressors can intimidate the victims into silence. In this case they allegedly threatened to kill the girl and members of her family. (Source: News of the Weird)
