The greatest show in earth
Kaye Cochrane from Orakei has a bouquet for construction company Fulton Hogan. "They are currently working on a big project next to the littlies' playground at Madill's Farm in Kohimarama. Most of the site is screened off, but near the playground there is an open fence with a great view of the diggers working in the mud. Two-year-old grandson was very impressed! There was even a little yellow digger and a bigger orange one, well known to readers of Betty Guilderdale's book."
Road behaviour from Japan
Dougal McQueen of Dunedin writes: "When we were driving in Japan there were many strange behaviours. One was the car bow; if you give way to someone all the occupants in the car will bow to you. Another was drivers waiting at traffic lights getting out to quickly check the tyre pressure. This was in Fukushima, so maybe a bit parochial ..."
