"When moving into a new block of classrooms at St Peter's College, many students were slightly puzzled as to what the small breakout rooms were for," writes Quinn Hill of Mt Eden. "A teacher was able to fool a surprisingly large number of students intobelieving it was an 'Altitude Learning Room'. The room is said to increase IQ levels by 3 points and improve learning. To reinforce the prank, this appeared on the door the next morning."
Womble blamed for blaze
Fire crews were called to a blaze which was found to have been started by a Womble. North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called to a property after receiving reports of the smell of burning in a loft. Crews arrived at the scene and found the Womble on fire. It is believed the toy Womble had been left under a down-light in the loft, which set him alight.
"Complaints to the litterbug dob-in 0800 number do get an automatic fine," writes a reader. "I know because I received one. I requested proof but they only had the word of the complainant. They refused to waive the fine. They won't tell you who complained either so you have no hope of proving your innocence. If you get caught (dobbed in) a second time it is $400, end of story. I persisted and got a warning."
Snake smooch? No fangs
A Florida man is recovering from a cottonmouth snake bite to his lip after he allegedly tried to smooch the serpent. Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies said Austin Hatfield, 18, captured the 1.2m cottonmouth while swimming. Friends told investigators Hatfield was trying to kiss the snake when it struck him. Hatfield was initially hospitalised in critical condition, but his status was upgraded to good. (Source: UPI.com)
