The mother of a 2-year-old says it is a miracle her son was not more badly injured after the boom from loud fireworks shattered her bedroom window and rained glass down on him.
Marie Stephens is now urging revellers to head to public displays, instead of setting off fireworks in their backyards.

Recently, a parliamentary select committee was spurred into action to review the law around the sale of fireworks by a 29,000-signature strong petition supporting public firework displays.
