Shot hunter charged after companion shot

Charges have been laid against a deer hunter accidentally shot in the arm by his companion near Taihape last month.

The victim, a 22-year-old Taihape man, and his 16-year-old companion were hunting illegally on Mounganui Station, police said.

The licensed firearms holder was seriously injured when the teenager shot him with the pair's sole rifle.
