SH2 blocked by concrete slab near Eketahuna

The southbound lanes of State Highway 2 are closed just north of Eketahuna after a concrete slab fell from the back of a truck.

Police said the 8.5 tonne pre-caste concrete slab lies about 1km north of the town near the intersection of Higginsons Rd and there will be delays while it is removed.

A rail bridge will also need to be assessed by engineers as it was also struck by the load.

Northbound lanes remain open.
