A driver has died after their car collided with a truck north of Hamilton overnight.
Emergency services were called to State Highway 1, Ngaruawahia about 11pm after a car and a truck collided.
Police said the car has then veered off into a roadside drain, while the truck came to
rest on its side.
The sole occupant of the car died, while the driver of the truck suffered moderate injuries.
Both lanes were closed for a period overnight but have since reopened.
