One dead after truck crashes into bridge on SH35, Hicks Bay on East Coast

A person has died after a truck crashed into a bridge on Te Araroa Rd, State Highway 35, in Hicks Bay, East Coast

Police were notified of the crash about 4.40pm and motorists were advised to avoid the area.

“Police can now confirm a person involved in a crash on Te Araroa Rd, SH35 in Hicks Bay this afternoon, died at the scene.

“The road has now been cleared. Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.”

Meanwhile, a truck has rolled on SH2 near Mohaka in Hawke’s Bay, blocking one lane of traffic.

Police advise motorists to prepare for significant delays while the scene is cleared.
