Serious injuries following alleged assault

Police believe a man seriously injured in Christchurch last night may have been the victim of an assault.

The man was taken from New Brighton to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries about 9.30pm, a police spokeswoman said.

It is believed the injuries had been inflicted at another address around 5pm.

The man will be spoken to by police when he's well enough to speak to them, she said.
