One dead after serious truck, car crash; SH1 near Christchurch reopened

One person has died following a crash involving a truck and a car near Christchurch.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at the intersection of Breadings and Main South Rds around 10.50am.

“One person received injuries and sadly, died at the scene of the crash,” a police spokesperson said.

The road was closed while emergency services attended, and a Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination.

Hato Hone St John were notified at 10.47am. They sent two ambulances, one rapid response unit, one operations manager, and one helicopter to the scene.

Fire and Emergency Services (Fenz) was also alerted to the crash.

“We received a call of a crash involving a truck and a car just before 11, we sent crews from Dunsandel and Rakaia,” a Fenz spokesperson said.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
