Serious crash closes SH25 near Whakatete

State Highway 25 remains closed, after a collision between a motorcycle and a car left one person dead.

Two other people have also received minor injuries as a result of the collision.

A collision had also occurred on the 309 Road which was now blocked, police said.

Because of these incidents, the only alternative route to the north western coast was the route via Tairua, Whitianga and Matarangi, police said.

Police asked motorists to be patient as delays would be inevitable at this time.

State Highway 25 was expected to be closed to traffic for about the next two hours.
