SENIOR ORCHARD MANAGER
An opportunity has arisen to join the OPAC team that prides itself on growing, harvesting, packing and cool-storing exceptional quality kiwifruit for supply through Zespri to export markets around the world. With a large post harvest operation in Opotiki we provide orchard to market services to kiwifruit growers in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, and Te Puke areas.
Reporting to the Orchard Operations Manager the Senior Orchard Manager will be responsible for delivering excellent crops for OPAC growers. The role requires someone who will lead and motivate staff to ensure orcharding best practice and high performing kiwifruit crops are consistently achieved. The Senior Orchard Manager will work closely with 4 other highly skilled orchard managers and will develop and maintain effective relationships with OPAC growers.
The successful candidate will be driven for success and contribute to OPAC's winning culture, s/he will have a focus on continuous improvement - striving to be the best they can be, and will meet growers expectations by ensuring every fruit counts.
Key responsibilities of the role include the following:
• Responsible for maximising the efficiency of day-to-day orchard activities
• Providing advice and first class orchard management services to OPAC growers
• Recruit, train, lead and develop trainee orchard manager and supervisors and seasonal orchard employees
• Budget management and effective reporting of orchard achievement against operational plans
Key requirements of this position include the following:
• Previous orchard management experience at a senior level
• Proven leadership, organisational and communication skills
• Staff management experience
• Good client relationship skills
