One person critically injured after Transmission Gully crash, Wellington, lanes reopened

A section of Wellington's Transmission Gully has closed after a serious crash this afternoon.

Wellington’s Transmission Gully motorway has partially reopened after a serious crash that led to a person being airlifted to hospital.

Police said officers were called to a two-vehicle crash near Whitby about 3.25pm.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) said State Highway 1 is open to one lane for northbound traffic approaching the SH1/SH58 interchange.

SH1 Transmission Gully Motorway is also now closed to southbound traffic between the SH1/SH58 and Waitangirua Interchanges.

“Consider using SH59 for northbound travel,” NZTA said.
