Second prison manager arrested

Another prison guard has been arrested at Rimutaka Prison on drugs charges.

Department of Corrections chief executive Barry Matthews says it follows a long running investigation that has already seen the arrest of a unit manager at the prison. He says this second arrest should send a clear message that corrupt and illegal behaviour will not be tolerated in prisons.

Mr Matthews says the department is continuing its investigation and will not hesitate to take action against any further staff members suspected of acting unethically.
