Second person dies after Wanganui house fire

A second elderly woman has died after a house fire in Wanganui last night.

Two women, believed to be aged 69 and 73, were rescued by firefighters from a house in Golf Vue Place in Castlecliff.

One woman died in hospital last night.

Police said the second woman, who had been in a critical condition in Wanganui Hospital, died this evening.

A statement said no further details would be released until her next of kin had been informed.

Preliminary indications were that the fire was not suspicious, police said.
