Search underway near Lake Ohau for missing tramper due back days ago

A search is underway for a missing person near Lake Ohau in Canterbury's Mackenzie Basin.

Police say they were alerted around 10am, after someone was expected back out from the Hopkins Valley a couple of days ago.

A police spokesperson says search and rescue crews are preparing to check a hut in the valley.
