Hip-Hop music icon Scribe appeared to contravene the spirit of his bestseller Stand Up yesterday by ducking invitations to apologise for a serious assault before his eyes.
Radio station 95bFM operations manager Phil Armstrong says he was admitted to hospital with concussion and a broken tooth after talking to Scribe
at a music industry Christmas Party and being punched repeatedly by an associate of the star.
Mr Armstrong insists he did not say anything provocative to Scribe and a group of the artist's friends, all of whom appeared drunk on free vodka from the party at the Grey Lynn Bowling Club on Wednesday night. The vodka was served outside the club.
The 38-year-old was taken by ambulance to Auckland City Hospital, from where he was discharged the next day, and the police photographed his injuries yesterday.
He told the Weekend Herald he had drunk just one glass of vodka and an energy drink and had a clear recollection of the party until being attacked.
Although he admitted he would have difficulty identifying his attacker in a line-up, he said plenty of witnesses had told him it was an emerging hip-hop artist who has performed with with Scribe.
But Mr Armstrong said a representative of P-Money's label, Dirty Records, phoned him yesterday to apologise. P-Money was not involved in the incident.
Scribe did not return a call from the newspaper, and his management company CRS refused any more comment after saying on Thursday night that he had no involvement in the attack.
