"Masterton has GDP growth of 6 per cent in the last 12 months... Masterton is one of seven towns that are 100 per cent rolled-out with ultra-fast broadband."
Mr Scott said people from Auckland were visiting and staying in Wairarapa, and Martinborough, Greytown and Carterton were in the second round of towns pitching for ultra-fast broadband capabilities.
The MP said mortgage and immigration policies meant people were "moving from Auckland [and] coming to Wairarapa to live, to set up their business, to raise their family" - and that last summer the region had a record numbers of tourists.
Mr Peters then responded "Everybody is moving to Wairarapa, excepting Alastair Scott, the local MP.
"I went down the main street of Masterton and I asked 10 'Wairarapans' - I said to them "Who's your local MP?" Mr Peters continued.
"Nine could not tell me, and the 10th one was his branch chairman."
Mr Peters went on to talk about a Silver Fern Farms business deal which he said gives "control of everything" to the Chinese government, and asked what "provincial National Party MP representation" was doing about it.
"Why, nothing; they do not want to know."
