Hamilton Boys High's first XV return to New Zealand tomorrow as the world champions of schoolboy rugby.
HBHS trounced English side Truro 40-8 in the final of the Sanix World Rugby Youth Invitational Tournament in Fukuoka, Japan, this week to become the third New Zealand side to lift the trophy.
Rotorua Boys High School won in 2003 and 2004, and Christchurch Boys High School also completed the double, in 2005 and 2006.
Tries to Adam Burn, Hayden Wisnewski, Jesse Dodunski and Bruce Jones, and three conversions from Josh Smith, gave HBHS a 26-3 halftime lead.
In the second spell Kallum Andrews and Hugh Blake touched down; Russ Parai converted both tries.
Principal Susan Hassall said the school was "extraordinarily proud" of the victory.
"It's something very, very special for our team from being the national champions to succeeding at the world level. It's a vindication of the team's wonderful coaching and our boys' very hard work and commitment."
HBHS beat fancied Australian side Hills Sports High School - whose pack is 30kg heavier than that of the Warratahs - 18-0 in the semifinal.
HBHS was New Zealand's schools champion for 2008 and 2009.
