School wins $5K prize

South Auckland's Favona Primary School is $5000 richer, thanks to a New Zealand Herald promotion run in conjunction with Progressive supermarkets - Countdown, Foodtown and Woolworths.

Shoppers were given the chance to win $5000 worth of grocery vouchers and $5000 cash for their nominated school.

One of the three winners nominated Favona and the $5000 cheque was presented at a special school assembly by Nikki Newsgirl and Kahu Karere, the Herald's Newspapers in Education mascots.
