School bus crash leaves five children injured

Five children are being treated at Waikato Hospital with moderate injuries after their school bus collided with a truck in Gordonton, north of Hamilton, this afternoon.

The school bus turned in front of an oncoming truck and trailer unit at about 4pm on Gordonton Road, a Waikato police spokesman said.

The truck tried to take evasive action and ended up on the wrong side of the road, and collided with another vehicle.

Five children were admitted to hospital and are being treated at the emergency department, Waikato DHB spokeswoman Mary Anne Gill said.
