Fitting roll bars on some jet boats is one of a number of suggestions being put to commercial jet boat operators after a safety review of their industry.
The Maritime Safety Authority has released a draft of its review, commissioned after a number of jet boat accidents, including a fatality inNovember 1999 when Japanese tourist Yuichiro Shibata, 30, was killed in the Shotover Gorge.
Other recommendations cover driver training and licensing.
