Are the activities on Queens Wharf accessible? Do you know if people using a wheelchair or walker (or with a child in a pushchair) have been considered? Can they easily get into the Cloud, the Shed, the giant rugby ball (which I am told people enter only through a rotatingdoor)? And are accessible toilets available? I couldn't find any information on the Auckland2011 website. Fran Brown, Auckland.
Sally Woodfield from the Real NZ Festival tells me that, yes, all facilities are accessible. The Cloud and Shed 10 are easily achievable, and there is also a special wheelchair viewing platform for the main stage. While the main entrance into the 100 per cent Pure New Zealand rugby ball is via a rotating door - this is to ensure air pressure is maintained, so that the ball stays inflated - there is a special wheelchair entrance to the rugby ball and the Real NZ Festival hosts will assist with this. Pushchairs are not allowed into the rugby ball and are left in a secure place outside during the performance. Toilets for the disabled are available throughout the site including adjacent to the rugby ball, in the Cloud and Shed 10 and volunteers on site can all be asked to assist with directions.
Will the Cloud and Shed 10 be screening the Silver Ferns v Australian Diamonds netball match on Sunday at 4pm before the RWC grand final? Stacie DeLacey, South Auckland.
The Silver Ferns test will not screen at the Cloud or anywhere else on Queens or Captain Cook wharves - these are solely Rugby World Cup venues. The test will be screening live at 4pm on SkySport (that's 11am local time in Perth, Western Australia).
