Rudd the 'good sport' wears All Blacks tie

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd kept his word to John Key today and proudly wore his new black New Zealand tie, after losing a Bledisloe Cup bet with the New Zealand PM.

Rudd wore the tie during a function in New South Wales at Lismore Base Hospital, and later told a press conference it was the "Australian way" to keep a promise made.

He and Key had agreed last Thursday to wear the other's colours for a day if their side lost Saturday night's Bledisloe Cup rugby test in Sydney.

"Black is a colour for mourning, and that may well be the situation on Monday," Mr Key said at the time, as he exchanged neckwear with Rudd.

Mr Rudd later hosted Mr Key at the test match.

The All Blacks eventually won the match 19-18 thanks to a 78th minute Daniel Carter penalty.
