The first man to arrive at the scene of the Mt Wellington triple RSA killings has given evidence at the High Court at Auckland.
Alan Eastwood, the vice-president of the club in December last year and a former policeman of 45 years, this morning told the court he arrived at the
club about 9am on Saturday December 8 and found a body on the dance floor.
He told the court he could not understand what had happened. He then ran to the president's office and found office worker Susan Couch lying on her back with the left side of her face unrecognisable and swollen.
"She was breathing heavily and moaning at the same time."
Mr Eastwood said he rang 111 and told the ambulance service that he had found one person dead and one extremely injured person but did not know where others in the building were.
He later told the ambulance service there were three people dead and one injured.
Mr Eastwood said he checked for pulses on the three bodies but could not find any and waited for emergency services to arrive.
William Bell, 24, and Darnell Tupe, 23, are accused of the attempted murder of Ms Couch and the murder of cleaner Mary Hobson, club stalwart Wayne Johnson and its then-president Bill Absolum.
The trial began on Tuesday. The Crown has indicated it will call 153 witness.
