Rotorua winter festival payout

Creditors owed thousands of dollars by Rotorua Winter Festival organisers have finally been paid.

However, some are disgruntled over getting no more than 28 cents for every dollar owed.

The July four-day festival owed $22,000, because of lower than expected turnouts and a sponsorship shortfall.

Rotorua District Council stumped up $10,000 to meet bills because it partly underwrote the event.

Festival creditors include the chart-topping band Goodshirt, who were owed more than $5000, Auckland company Carlton Party Hire ($7000), and production boss Noel Lamberton ($6000).

Festival organiser Lisa Meichtry is understood to have left Rotorua for a job in Masterton. She was unavailable for comment.
