Rotorua wharf fall fatal

A Rotorua woman has died after falling from a wharf while fishing at Maketu.

The 36-year-old was fishing off a wharf at the mouth of the Kaituna River at 11.30 on Monday night when she appeared to step over the edge while casting her line.

Senior Sergeant Carl Purcell said the woman fell about six metres onto hard sand.
