Rotorua sleepout fire overnight brings multiple 111 calls

Fire and Emergency NZ crews have fought a sleepout fire in Rotorua overnight.

A spokesman said they received multiple calls about a fire at a property in Fordlands just before 10pm.

On arrival crews found a small sleepout well involved in fire, the spokesman said.

The sleepout was 4m x 3m.

The spokesman said no one was in the sleepout and the fire was not being considered suspicious.

Two fire trucks and a support vehicle from the central Rotorua station went to the fire and left around midnight.

A fire investigator was advised, he said.
