Rotorua residents angry over lack of help for lake

Residents around Lake Rotoiti are "absolutely disgusted" that the Government will help to protect Lake Taupo while their lake continues to deteriorate.

Sally Brock said she and other campaigners for Lake Rotoiti had been left out in the cold.

Lake Rotoiti residents have been campaigning for nearly two decades about the lake's deteriorating condition.

The Government has stepped in to protect Lake Taupo from the effects of excess nutrients in a project which includes Environment Waikato, the Taupo District Council, Tuwharetoa and several other agencies.

They will work with the Government to reduce the amount of nutrients entering the lake.
