Rotorua algae bloom subsides

Algae bloom that has affected several lakes in the Rotorua district has now subsided and health warnings have been lifted.

The only exception remains at Okawa Bay where samples taken by Environment BOP this week show blue green algae bloom is persisting there at moderate levels.

Bay of Plenty Medical Officer of Health, Dr Phil Shoemack, said people were still advised to avoid contact with any lake that looked discoloured.
