A man has died in a car crash near Lower Hutt, bringing the weekend road toll to three.
The crash happened at Manor Park and the driver, the sole occupant, died when his car hit a hill. The man who died in a motorcycle accident on Friday
night was Christopher John Simpkin, 41, of Opotiki.
Police said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. A 21-year-old man died near Christchurch on Saturday when his vehicle hit a motorway pillar.
And a 27-year-old man is dead after a tractor rolled and crushed him on a farm in Putaruru.
