Police must now wait for new leads in their hunt for missing Masterton man, Trevor Searancke, after divers and riverside searchers failed to find him yesterday.
Search and Rescue Senior Sergeant Murray Johnston said a team of seven volunteers spent four hours combing the Waingawa and Ruamahanga rivers from Masterton to
Gladstone.
"Four guys took out a raft and another three drove a 4WD along the riverbank, stopping to swim in deep pools along the river."
"There was no sign of anything."
Search and Rescue won't be exercising any more searches "unless further information comes to hand," he said.
A truck driver yesterday reported another unconfirmed sighting of Mr Searancke, 54, in the East Taratahi area.
"The sighting goes back to about eight days ago so it's not recent."
Mr Johnston said investigators would continue with their enquiries and "hopefully something new will come to hand".
