Right Kylie contacts police

A Kaitaia woman contacted police and appeared in court yesterday after hearing that her Auckland namesake had been wrongly detained for a night in a police cell.

Police have apologised to Kylie Maree Wilson of Auckland, who was forced to spend her 22nd birthday in jail after they stopped her at a checkpoint.

Officers had matched her name with Kylie Marie Wilson, a Kaitaia 21-year-old who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.
