Rifle taken from man near primary school

Armed police yesterday swooped on a man seen carrying a weapon near a North Shore school in Auckland.

A police dog was used to take the 25-year-old into custody near Chelsea View Primary School, in Chatswood.

Police said the man fired at least one shot at a target with an air rifle, which was taken from him and would not be returned.
