The widow of slain farmer Scott Guy will meet more than 70 horse riders trekking around local farmlands today in memory of her husband's death.
The charity ride - aimed at raising funds for their two sons, Hunter, 4, and Drover, 1, - takes place two months before the murder trial of Guy's brother-in-law, Ewen Kerry Macdonald.
Police advised widow Kylie Guy to not speak to the Herald on Sunday before the trial.
Friend and organiser of the trek Suz Bremner said Kylie would be at the house with her sons, waiting to meet the riders after a six- hour trek through the farmlands of Woodville.
"It was just an absolute horror what happened to Scotty," Bremner said.
"We just wanted to do what we could to help out Kylie and the boys. We wanted to do something for the years to come."
Bremner said a horse trek was the perfect fundraiser as well as a time to remember Guy, who loved his rodeo and life on the farm.
"He was into the rodeo scene; he didn't do a lot but if he could have he would have ridden a lot more," she said.
Last year they raised $1600 and hoped to better it this year with double the amount of riders.
