Restoration of Mt Maunganui

A second community planting day to restore Mt Maunganui, which lost 20ha of vegetation in a January fire, is planned on Saturday.

Mayor Jan Beange said she was impressed by the turnout of several hundred people for a planting bee last month.

Volunteers are asked to bring a spade to help put in 2000 donated plants on the steep seaward side of the mountain, starting at 11am.
